Tuzemská nejvyšší soutěž má za sebou přibližně deset odehraných kol, některé týmy mají méně odehraných zápasů. Hned v úvodu se odkládal jeden zápas za druhým, vše z důvodu podezření, či potvrzení koronaviru. Promořila se většina extraligových klubů, odehraných bylo pět kol, avšak 8. 10. byla liga přerušena úplně. Trvalo to skoro měsíc. Za návrat hokeje, i bez diváků, lobbovalo velké množství fanoušků, manažerů i hokejistů. Vrátila se však pouze extraliga, všechny ostatní hokejové kluby mohly pouze trénovat. Překážkou jsou pro ně velké výdaje za testování, podle posledních zpráv by se Chance liga měla vrátit o víkendu.

Hned v úvodním utkání Tipsport Extraligy 17. září vyzval nováček z Českých Budějovic nejvíce nenáviděného soupeře v jihočeském městě, hradecký Mountfield! Českým Budějovicím ale nevyšla premiéra v nejvyšší soutěži. Svěřenci Václava Prospala dokonce na první výhru čekají pořád! Herně se prezentují dobře, velmi ale doplácejí na poslední desetiminutovku, kde mnohokrát ztratili vyhraný zápas.

Letos se týmy hrozby sestupu bát nemusí. Jinak už by se tyto otázky vznášely, stejně jako ve zpětných ročnících, nad litvínovskou Vervou a Pardubicemi. Dynamo se netajilo velkými ambicemi, klub majitele Petra Dědka přivedl posily, výsledky se ale dosud nedostavily. Perníkáři jsou s jihočeským klubem jediné týmy čekající na výhru. Litvínov je na tom pouze o bod lépe, sráží ho nízká produktivita. Za očekáváními zůstává i Kometa, která zvítězila pouze jednou v základní době. Stejně jsou na tom takové Vítkovice, zato první šestku v tabulce uzavírají Karlovy Vary, prezentující se velmi rychlým přenesením hry. Zásluhu na tom mají i posily ze Severní Ameriky.

Kdo naopak ještě předčil vysoká očekávání, je Plzeň. Indiáni vedou neúplnou tabulku, táhnout tým zřejmě opět bude duo Mertl – Gulaš. Dotáhnout se na ně ještě může Třinec, který má o tři zápasy méně, všech sedm ale zatím vyhrál! Spokojenost jako u Ocelářů panuje i v O2 aréně, podobné je to i pod Bílou věží v Hradci. O posun v tabulce jistě bude usilovat Liberec nebo Mladá Boleslav. Zajímavé bude sledovat, zda se zvednou mančafty z Olomouce a Zlína, které trápí koncovka.
